SCHOLARSHIP
APPLICATION INFORMATION
Through a grant
from the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services as recommended by the California
Children's Justice Act Task Force has set aside a limited number of scholarships for
Californians who wish to participate in the Online Professional Training, and need financial
support. Our
scholarship program is designed for service providers from organizations
or agencies in California who assist crime victims
or provide services to individuals with disabilities and operate with limited
budgets or resources. Read the following instructions, then click

Who is eligible?
These scholarships are available only to service providers
from public or nonprofit agencies IN CALIFORNIA that assist victims of crime
but do not have budget to support training. These include:
- Victim Services
- Law Enforcement (police, sheriff, prosecution, adjudication,
any other)
- Social service providers (Child/Adult Protective Services)
- Mental health professionals (including Trauma and Disaster
responders)
- Healthcare professionals (such as SANE nurses, sexual
assault specialists, physicians)
- First Responders (such as paramedics, SART teams)
The training is primarily planned for professionals
involved in the following aspects of response to abuse: Identification
and reporting (mandated reporters), protective services, law enforcement
(first responders), investigation, forensic interviewing, prosecution,
adjudication, victim services (case management), and treatment (psychotherapy,
crisis intervention). All of these tasks are related to child abuse, dependent
adult abuse and elder abuse, in particular as these affect individuals
with disabilities.
What are the criteria for scholarship awards?
Scholarship awards are based on the following criteria:
- The applicant has provided direct services to, or worked
on behalf of, victims of crime in his or her current organization.
- The applicant does not have sufficient funds to cover
registration
- The applicant’s organization has insufficient
funds to support training in the 12 months following the application
for this scholarship.
- The organization’s director provides an explanatory statement
of inability to pay
- The organization’s director provides written assurances
that the applicant will receive all other types of support from the organization to
participate in the training (time allocated to the training,
uninterrupted internet connection and accessibility for all courses,
internet access for follow up with faculty as needed.
- The application clearly states how the training relates
to the applicant’s current work in serving victims of crime.
- The request for training is supported by the applicant's
organization.
What does the scholarship pay for?
The Online Training Scholarship covers the following:
- The Online Training Scholarship covers the Registration Fees
- The Online Training is available to successful applicants for 12 msonths following the award.
Additional Information:
- Arc Riverside Scholarships are awarded based on the availability of
funding.
- We reserve the right to deny scholarships to applicants whose program
does not involve work with crime and/or abuse victims.
- Only one individual per organization/agency.
- Scholarships are nontransferable.
